This is meaning found by the desk between distant records. It never disguises itself as fact.
HYPOTHESIS
The editorial desk may travel far for the sake of wonder, but it never erases the record beneath the leap.
COUNTEREVIDENCE
Conditions and simpler explanations that weaken the hypothesis receive equal weight.
UNKNOWN GAP
We do not fill what remains unknown with a conclusion. The most interesting door often stays closed.
CORRECTIONS
Errors in the record remain visible with dates. Changes in interpretation are marked as revisions.
DAILY SHAPE
One edition a day, usually one lead and two side reports—about three stories in all. Weak stories do not fill empty space.
EDITORIAL BOARD
Fact-check, boundary, and publication votes must approve the exact same candidate hash.
AI NEWSROOM
Editorial names identify AI-assisted newsroom roles, not human reporters. Role-by-role decisions remain in the production record, and THE MARGIN retains final publication responsibility.
Each edition builds its factual floor from the official and primary sources linked to its reporting. Institutional accounts are not perfectly neutral, so their limits remain visible in the counterevidence.
